penguin chick pictureHI EVERYBODY!!

First thing every morning on board the Ocean Princess, Phil and Angie would find a newsletter called the Princess Patter, which would tell them about the days' activities.  So they decided to do that for you here.  Pretty clever huh.

See you later!

Day 5 - Skagway, Alaska, United States

September 6, 2000

Our last port of call before the glaciers was Skagway.

The wind and rains were so bad, that most of the outbound tours were cancelled today.  In a brief weather break, we ventured out and got some great shots.

An advertisement sort of carved into the mountain face.
Rain starting to come back.
A deceptively pretty view.

A typical tourist shot.
Skagway has two main docks.  The Broadway dock..
... and the Railroad dock.  In bad weather, this one can seem VERY far away.  The weather got so bad, the whole town lost power for about 20 minutes.  Jokes about Skagway being cancelled were not far from being true.

Our head waiter Valentino had a birthday a couple of days earlier.  We asked our waiter to take our anniversary cake and put a birthday frosting cover on it.  The whole dining area we were in sang Happy Birthday to him.
Our sister ship, the Regal Princess.
There were a total of 5 different cruise ships docked that night.

The water was kicking up so bad..
that we didn't leave Skagway until around 1AM the following morning.  This boat is returning to dock, after the harbor master refused to let her leave.
