There are 8 islands making up the state of Hawai'i.
About 17 miles southwest of Kaua'i is Ni'ihau, which is known as The Forbidden Island.
The only way to get there is by boat or helicopter, and even then you basically have to be invited.
Ni'ihau is pretty much
a privately owned island
that is very remote.
Catamarand tours
and helicopters are about
the only way there.
We didn't want either
of those options, so we were
just looked from afar
