HI EVERYBODY!!

We don't get a lot of traffic down here in Antartica. Just the occasion walrus passing through. But Phil and Angie have to deal with things like roads and construction. These are some pictures of what I mean.

Wacker Drive Viaduct Reconstruction

In typical fashion of the city that burned to the ground only to rebuild itself, Chicago is undertaking another mammoth construction project. The upper portion of Wacker Drive west of Michigan Avenue and rounding the bend to Randolph Street is being REPLACED! Not just repaired, but replaced. Chicago doesn't do anything small!!

 

As if hiding behind the trees is the beginning of the project.	Just the other side of State Street bridge...	a street is missing!

Even as the project seems to be just getting started, visible progress is seen.	In the midst of all this mess, still gotta have that Diet Coke fix.	A riverside view of the construction, shot from the Dearborn Street Bridge.

Sneaking a peak at the "inside" of Wacker Dr., between State and Dearborn.	Even though this has nothing to do with the Wacker Drive project, this is a pretty good shot of tearing it down as you use it!	Sneaking a shot west from Dearborn to Clark Street.

A stairway to...	I really hope this bank doesn't charge teller fees!	Shooting from that bank..at what would be the southeast corner of Clark and Wacker!

OK Mac...you take dis dirt and put it overbydare..ya got dat?!	A long shot of another stairway. I think they are symbolic of the whole project..you can get there, but you can't go anywhere once you do!	A "floating" sidewalk of sorts, from Clark to LaSalle Street.

The UPS must go through, but can it get OUT?!	Long shot from LaSalle to Wells Street	Amidst all the rubble and debris are some recognizeable pieces of the bridge work..columns and such.

Standing in the inside eastbound lane of Wacker Dr., between Wells and LaSalle Streets. Very surreal!
